How to Pack Your Lamps for Moving in Six Steps

Moving from one location to another can seem like a hassle. There are many tasks to stay on track with and complete to stay aligned with your schedule. Then, the challenge is getting your possessions into their respective boxes before transporting them. Some of your belongings may be a bit more troubling to pack when compared to others.

Take, for example, the lighting fixtures in and around the home. Some, like your lamps, seem easier than others to put into a box. Since they are a bit more fragile than others, they require a more careful hand. Use the following tips to get your lamps into their box before putting them on the road.

1. The Boxes

Of course, the most important aspect of packing away your lamps has to do with the traditional box. You could potentially throw caution to the wind and just carry your boxes with you by hand. However, the best action is to put them away safely and snugly into a box.

Since many lamps are of a respective size, they do not need a huge box, to begin with. Rather, an average-sized container should be able to work just fine for your needs. Then, ensure they have a bit of real estate around them, so you can comfortably move your hands around them. Boxes may seem obvious, but they are crucial to have nonetheless!

2. Packaging Supplies

Usually, putting your fragile items into a box should not be challenging. In case, however, you should do all you can to ensure they are protected during transport. 4. Box Placement

The next part of the process is the actual packing process. As mentioned, place the largest part of the lamp inside the box first. You may want to also begin by putting your cushioning materials inside the box. Then, lay the base on top and place the lampshade next.

Sometimes, the size of your box may dictate how it is packed. Do your best to work with the placement, so no component sticks out like an awkward thumb. If necessary, you could add a layer of bubble wrap to finalize the packing procedure. Do not forget to ensure other parts do not impede the lampshade!

5. Labelling

When putting away an item of yours inside a box, the state of the belonging will matter greatly. Some are sturdy enough to be put away with a second thought, as they will generally not be harmed. Others, like your disassembled lamps, will be pretty fragile. This necessitates the need to be careful.

So, once the actual lamp is inside the box, secure it promptly. Then, on the box’s exterior, indicate with a marker that there are fragile items inside. Since you may not know what is inside a respective box, this label will keep you from accidentally damaging it.

6. Transport

The final part of the process will involve moving the lamp and other items to your intended destination. Try your best not to drive over bumpy, harmful paths. That way, you will reach your location as safely as possible, with your lamps in mint condition!
